Hotel chain plans global spa revitalization

Sheraton Hotels is to roll out a new spa concept globally, the chain announced September 7.

"Shine for Sheraton" spas will be introduced across the chain's hotels and resorts around the world over the next few years, including 12 openings in the next 15 months.

The spas will offer products by spa and skincare brand Germaine de Capuccini, as well as five signature treatments including a massage, facial, body treatment, manicure/pedicure and a treatment for two.

Sheraton says that the spas will be warm and welcoming, using creams, browns and burnished gold materials with blue, tourmaline and coral accents, as well as shining surfaces such as marble, onyx, high gloss mahogany and polished metal and glass.

Guests can already try the new spa concept at select hotels in China, Vietnam, the Maldives and the Slovak Republic before its global rollout.

Eight out of 10 guests in Sheraton hotels are likely to consider using the spa while travelling, says Sheraton, with 54 percent only visiting spas while on the road.

With Sheraton promising to make the spa a cornerstone of the brand experience, it remains to be seen whether it can best its competitors in terms of luxury - Four Seasons operates over half of the world's best spas as selected by Travel + Leisure magazine.
